As hundreds of businesses across Wisconsin closed their doors at the outset of the pandemic, child care providers remained open. Many of them, such as the You Are My Sunshine day care center in Green Bay, faced immense losses in the early days of quarantine and social distancing.
Now, thanks to $30 million in fresh CARES ACT funding made available to these providers, many are getting some necessary financial relief. From reporting via Green Bay’s ABC affiliate, WBAY, Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) are doing their best to get this funding to child care providers quickly and efficiently.
