Gabby works in healthcare, and she’s sharing some shocking details on how bad things really are when it comes to PPE. According to her, frontline workers are typically given a single mask and shield to reuse until they become visibly soiled. And where are they kept during off-hours? Paper bags with their names labeled on them.
The reality that our healthcare professionals face during this pandemic is outrageous, and our federal government’s support thus far has been unacceptable. Gabby took to Instagram to demand better.
“I’m honored to partner with A Better Wisconsin Together in using my voice to spread awareness on the shortage of PPE in hospitals.
Medical professionals are putting their lives at risk to take care of those who need them, yet they’re not being adequately or properly protected with the PPE they need. As someone who works in healthcare, I see and experience firsthand how this shortage affects frontline workers. At times, we are given a single mask and shield to reuse until they become visibly soiled. When we take them off, we keep them in a paper bag labeled with our name on it.
It is outrageous that in this day and age, especially during a pandemic, our frontline workers’ needs and protection are not prioritized. Our federal government needs to be held accountable for this lack of protection for frontline workers and step up to fix it.”
